About Us

Over thirty years ago, the club was started by a La Crescent, MN man along with several other HO scale modelers in the area who began meeting together in his home, and building modules in his basement.

This same gentleman also started a local hobby store in La Crosse called "Hobby Train" from inside a former railroad passenger car, and offered materials & accessories for sale to club members and modelers alike to grow his business.

The first two annual model train shows were held at La Crescent High School. The third year, a model train display was held inside the Doerflinger Building in LaCrosse, WI. After the fourth year, the founder left the club, and the remaining members collectively agreed to continue as a club to arrange and host the annual venue at the LaCrosse Center.

All members originally kept their own modules at their homes, and were responsible for transporting them to and from the shows until a clubhouse was finally constructed some ten years later. Today, the club boasts a count of almost twenty modules, including some privately owned module sections.

The club attends several regional shows per year with healthy crowd sizes drawn to each event. The annual La Crosse & Three Rivers Model Railroad Club Show held each year in March is hosted and managed by the club with part of the show's admission fee proceeds & food donations going toward assisting various local charities in the community.
